Hi, I’m Lisa O’Driscoll and I want to personally welcome you to the Yoga House.
The special place that the Yoga House is today was born shortly after the birth of my daughter. As much as I loved being a Mom, I needed a way to manage the demands of an infant. I started teaching and practicing in the basement of a library, and even though the space wasn’t ideal, I knew I had found a sanctuary to nurture myself and others.
After 9 years of teaching at various locations (mostly basements!), because there wasn’t a local studio in the community, I felt inspired to find a location where myself and other students could come up out of the dark basement into a bright space that felt like home.
In 2011, I opened the doors of the Yoga House as a dedicated yoga studio and the first in our area. My goal was to create a space where each individual’s needs for stress relief, community, and health and fitness could be met.
The Yoga House has grown into a nurturing and inclusive community for friendships, healing, and so much more. Today, some of our members have been with us for over 16 years, and we are always welcoming new students who want to begin or deepen their yoga practice.
Our studio offers a peaceful environment surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and looking out on a beautiful garden. We bring the outdoors in, on a daily basis. We have radiant floor heating to bring comfort while lying back and during the summer, the studio is air conditioned when necessary.
Our experienced, certified yoga instructors are committed to providing a safe yoga practice while teaching to the unique needs of individuals. At the Yoga House you will be encouraged to practice at your own ability and skill level, modify poses as necessary, and evolve at your own pace. We offer a variety of yoga classes from beginners to mommy and baby yoga, prenatal yoga, restorative yoga and chair yoga. We also offer workshops, events and retreats.
The Yoga House is truly a part of our community and as such we give back through involvement in many charitable events. We host events in Penetanguishene, Midland and surrounding communities, such as Yoga in the Park and Mental Health in Motion with donation based classes.
